Privacy Policy for Topped Off
Topped Off is published by Grumbee’s Bookkeeping LLC, based in Bayfield, Colorado.
The short version: the app does not collect your personal information. What you enter stays on your devices and in iCloud, and we can’t see it.
What the app does not do
- It has no accounts. There is no name, email or password to hand over.
- It has no ads.
- It doesn’t track you. It doesn’t share or sell information about you.
- It has no server of ours. Nothing you enter is sent to us.
What stays on your devices
The things on your list, every date you marked done, any miles or hours, notes, places, your reminder settings and whether you have Plus are saved on your own iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch. We can’t see them. If you delete the app, what it saved on that device is deleted too.
Photos
You can add one photo to each thing, from the camera or from your photos. The first time you take one, the app asks your permission to use the camera. When you choose from your photos, Apple’s own picker shows your library, and the app gets only the one photo you pick. It can’t see the rest.
The app saves a smaller copy of the photo and leaves out where it was taken. The copy is kept with the thing it belongs to, on your iPhone and iPad and in iCloud as described below. Your Apple Watch doesn’t keep photos. Removing the photo or the thing deletes it from the app.
iCloud
If you’re signed in to iCloud, your list, its dates, notes and photos are also kept in your own private iCloud storage, so your iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch show the same list. Your Apple Watch gets your list through iCloud. Only you can see it. We can’t. Your reminder settings are not kept in iCloud.
Removing something in the app removes it from iCloud too. Deleting the app doesn’t remove what is kept in iCloud.
To stop using iCloud for the app, open Settings, press your name, press iCloud, press See All next to Saved to iCloud, then press Topped Off and turn it off.
To remove your list from iCloud, turn it off as above. Then go back to iCloud, press Storage or Manage Account Storage, press Topped Off, then press Delete Data from iCloud.
Sharing with your household
With Topped Off Plus, you can share your list with people you invite. Apple’s own sharing screen sends the invite, by Messages, Mail or a link, and shows who has joined. The shared list, with its dates, notes and photos, is kept in the iCloud of the person who shared it, and everyone in the household can see it and change it. We can’t.
When you join someone’s household, the things already on your list are added to the household’s list. If you leave, your list stays on your phone, and what you added stays on the household’s list. The person who shared it can stop sharing or remove people at any time from the same screen.
Reminders
After you add your first thing, the app asks your permission to show notifications. Reminders are set on your own iPhone, and their settings are saved there. Nothing about them is sent to us. To change them, press the gear in the app, then Reminders. You can also turn off notifications for Topped Off in Settings.
Widgets, Siri and Shortcuts
The widgets read your list from a copy the app keeps on the same iPhone or iPad. So that Siri understands phrases like “Mark furnace filter done in Topped Off,” the app lets your iPhone know the names of the things on your list. Apple handles Siri requests under Apple’s own privacy policy. Nothing about them is sent to us.
Export, Tell a friend and Suggest a feature
Export to a spreadsheet makes the file on your device. It goes only where you send it.
Tell a friend opens Apple’s share screen with a link to the app on the App Store. It goes only where you send it.
Suggest a feature opens a new email in your Mail app, addressed to us, with the app’s version and your iPhone’s iOS version filled in. Nothing is sent unless you send it.
Ratings
Now and then, after you’ve finished something, the app may ask Apple to show its rating request. Apple decides whether it appears. If you rate the app, Apple handles it.
Purchases
If you buy Topped Off Plus, Apple handles the payment. We don’t see your card or payment details. Apple sends us sales totals. It doesn’t tell us who you are.
What Apple may send us
If you have chosen in your iPhone or iPad settings to share app information with developers, Apple may send us crash reports and usage numbers. They don’t identify you.
If you contact us
If you email us, we see your email address and what you wrote. We use them only to answer you.
Children
The app is not made for children under 13.
Changes
If the app changes in a way that affects this policy, we will update this page and the date at the top.
